What PhillyMatch does
Identity verification
Members can verify their identity with a government ID, a selfie, and a liveness check through an independent verification provider. Verified members get a badge, and you can limit your search to verified members only. Your ID document is handled by the verification provider, not uploaded to PhillyMatch; we keep the verification result and limited audit information.
Real profiles only
Every profile on PhillyMatch belongs to a person who signed up. We do not create fake profiles, and there are no bots writing messages. Accounts that turn out to be fake, commercial, or abusive are removed.
Block and report
You can block any member from their profile; a blocked member can no longer see your profile or contact you. You can also report a member to us from their profile. Reports go to a real person and are reviewed promptly.
You control what is visible
You choose your photos, what goes in your profile, and whether other members can see how you answered the questionnaire. You can delete your account at any time.
PhillyMatch is for adults only (18+), and we take reports of underage users seriously. Our Child Safety Standards describe our zero-tolerance policy and how to report a concern.
Staying safe online
- Keep conversations on PhillyMatch at first. Scammers try to move you to text, WhatsApp, or email quickly, before their profile can be reported. Take your time.
- Never send money, gift cards, or crypto to someone you have not met in person, no matter how convincing the story. A request for money is the single most reliable sign of a scam. Report it to us.
- Be cautious with personal details. Hold back your home address, workplace, daily routine, and financial information until you know someone.
- Watch for inconsistencies. Photos that look professional, a profile that agrees with everything you say, a job that keeps them conveniently out of the country, or a reluctance to video chat are all worth a second look.
- Do a quick check. A reverse image search on a profile photo, or a video call before meeting, takes a few minutes and settles most doubts.
Meeting in person
- Meet in public for the first few dates: a coffee shop, a restaurant, a busy park. Avoid private homes and being picked up at yours.
- Tell someone. Let a friend know who you are meeting, where, and when, and check in with them afterward.
- Get yourself there and back. Keep control of your own transportation so you can leave whenever you want.
- Watch your drink and keep your limits. Never leave a drink unattended.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it is fine to end the date early. You do not owe anyone an explanation.
Sexual health and consent
Consent is ongoing and can be withdrawn at any time. Talk about protection and testing before you need to; it is a normal conversation, not an awkward one. If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence, the National Sexual Assault Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-656-4673 or hotline.rainn.org.
Reporting a problem
If a member makes you uncomfortable, asks for money, sends unwanted explicit content, appears to be underage, or seems not to be who they claim, please report them. Use the report option on their profile, or contact us directly:
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you have been the victim of an online scam, you can also file a report with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov.
